1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to MyExpensesLog, operated by Techlastic Inc. (“MyExpensesLog,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including our public website, signup and login flows, household budgeting workspaces, transaction import tools, reports, alerts, billing pages, and related support communications.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, payment pages, or services that we do not control, even if they are linked from our service.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and contact information: name, email address, phone number, household role, and account credentials handled through our authentication providers.
  • Household and financial information: budgets, categories, accounts, transaction records, CSV or similar import file contents, bills, loans, split information, reports, alerts, and related notes or labels you enter.
  • Billing information: subscription plan, subscription status, Stripe customer or subscription identifiers, invoice status, and limited payment metadata. Full payment card details are typically collected directly by our payment processor, not by us.
  • Communications: messages you send to us, household invitations, support requests, and email preference information.
  • Technical and usage information: IP address, device and browser information, authentication logs, pages visited, timestamps, referring URLs, cookie identifiers, and similar operational log data.

We collect information directly from you, automatically from your device and browser, and from service providers that help us operate the service.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create, maintain, authenticate, and secure your account.
  • Operate the budgeting, reporting, import, household collaboration, and alert features.
  • Process subscription purchases, renewals, cancellations, invoices, and payment status updates.
  • Send transactional messages such as email verification, security notices, billing notices, and service updates.
  • Respond to support inquiries and resolve disputes.
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot errors, prevent fraud, and protect the service.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
  • Improve the service, provided that any new use is consistent with this Privacy Policy or disclosed to you separately.

4. How Information Is Stored

We store information using cloud infrastructure and service providers that help us run the website, database, authentication, email, and billing systems. Based on our current service configuration, these providers may include Supabase for database and authentication services, Stripe for subscription billing, and Amazon Web Services for certain email delivery functions.

Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information in the following situations:

  • With service providers and processors that help us host the service, authenticate users, process payments, send emails, secure the platform, and provide customer support.
  • With your household members when you choose to use shared household features or accept an invitation to a household workspace.
  • For legal reasons if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect safety, investigate fraud, or enforce our agreements.
  • In a business transaction such as a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy process.

We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are reasonably necessary to operate the service. These technologies help us keep users signed in, protect sessions, support security features, and maintain core website functionality.

We may also use limited functional technologies to remember settings or improve service performance. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies on the website.

Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. If you do, parts of the service may not function correctly, especially account login and secure session features.

Because we do not currently engage in the kind of cross-site tracking described by California’s “Do Not Track” disclosure rules, our website does not respond differently to standard Do Not Track signals at this time. If we ever engage in sale or sharing activities covered by applicable law, we will update this Policy and honor legally required opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control where applicable.

7. Marketing Communications and Opt-Out Choices

We may send transactional or relationship messages that are necessary to operate your account, such as verification messages, billing notices, password resets, or service-related alerts. You cannot opt out of these essential communications while continuing to use the service.

If we send marketing emails, they will include a clear opt-out method such as an unsubscribe link or reply-based opt-out where appropriate. You may also opt out at any time by contacting us at privacy@myexpenseslog.com or support@myexpenseslog.com. We will process marketing opt-out requests as required by applicable law.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of your personal information. You may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, or opt out of certain uses of your personal information.

To submit a privacy request, email privacy@myexpenseslog.com or write to us at the address listed below. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to our business and to your request, California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, as well as the right to opt out of sale or sharing and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising applicable rights. We do not currently sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA.

9. Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain internal backup, audit, and security records. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.

10. Children’s Privacy

MyExpensesLog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without legally required consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in violation of applicable law, contact us at privacy@myexpenseslog.com so we can review and take appropriate action.

11. Third-Party Sites and Payment Pages

When you leave our website for a third-party page, such as a hosted checkout or billing portal, that third party’s privacy policy will apply to the information collected there. We encourage you to read the privacy notices of those third parties before sharing information with them.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will post the revised version here, update the effective date, and may also notify you by email, in-app message, or another reasonable method. Your continued use of the service after the updated Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the revised Policy.
